Remix

Instagram’s advice about Remix forms part of its guidance on reach and recommendations, which explains that content against its Recommendation Guidelines can still reach followers in Feed and Stories, but Instagram tries not to recommend it to non-followers.3 Its April 2026 guidance identifies Remix as a collaboration tool for including other people’s material in posts you helped create while ensuring everyone involved receives credit.5

On reuse controls, Meta’s Newsroom described prompts for teens whose content others might remix to review and restrict privacy settings in February 2023.6 In January 2024, Instagram announced notifications offering a one-tap “Turn on recommended settings” option that restricts who can include a teen’s content in Reels Remixes, among other interactions.7 Instagram’s Help Center lists three reuse choices: allow everyone, allow only people the teen follows, or disallow remixing and reuse.8 It also describes a request process for asking a parent or guardian to approve the less protective option of allowing reuse by everyone.8
